
The Town of Shandaken proudly offers six parks within the Town, available for use by the public. We invite you to explore and enjoy the amenities offered at our beautiful parks, while also respecting our park rules, listed below:
- All Parks, Playgrounds & Parking Areas are CARRY IN – CARRY OUT. There are no trash receptacles – Please do not litter our mountains!
- Park in only designated parking areas
- Parks are open dawn – dusk
- Leash your dog at all times, unless inside the Shandaken Dog Park Area
- Clean up after your animal
- Be respectful of wildlife and the environment
- Public gatherings of 25 or more people, or events open to the public must register with the Town Clerk’s Office

Big Indian Park

A convenient park that hosts a variety of events including a concert series, pow-wows, a car show and more.

Glenbrook Park
48 NY-42, Shandaken, NY 12480
Our largest park, located next to the Shandaken Police Department, offers beautiful views of the mountains. The recently renovated pavilion and bathrooms are a great place to host a large event. A brand new natural playground is underway, with plans of a grand opening in 2026!

Phoenicia Park & Tanbark Nature Play Area (Parish Field)
16 Mt Ava Maria Rd, Phoenicia, NY 12464
Located in the heart of the hamlet of Phoenicia in Parish Field, this park hosts many festivals and markets, including the Phoenicia Farmer’s Market from May – October.

Simpson Mini-Park

Stream-side gazebo located at the entrance to Phoenicia, offering picnic opportunities and home to the Rotary Duck Race and other local events.

Smith Park
1 Elm St, Pine Hill, NY 12465
Beside Birch Creek, this park is within the hamlet of Pine Hill and is home to the new Shandaken Skate Park.

Rock Cut Park

Our newest park, this park is great for walking along the stream and fishing.
Amenities:
Walking path, fishing access, stream – NO SWIMMING.
Parks Reservations
The Town of Shandaken Clerk’s Office is responsible for Park reservations. Please fill out the Park Reservation Form and return it to the Town Clerk. Call the Clerk’s Office at 845-688-5004 with any questions.
Parks must be reserved for gatherings of 25 or more people or for events open to the public. Trash must be removed after all events and is the responsibility of the event-holder.
Parks Committee
Our all-volunteer Parks & Rec Committee meets regularly to discuss park improvements and projects. All Parks meetings are open to the public and can be found on the town calendar. If you would like to volunteer with the parks or become involved in the committee, please reach out to the Town Clerk’s Office.
