This process was facilitated by Elka Gotfryd and Kate Stryker, consultants from the regional nonprofit Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress (PFP). In 2024, the Town of Shandaken partnered with PFP to secure a Smart Growth grant from the New York Department of Environmental Conservation. The grant funded a collaborative and intensive community engagement process and a thorough analysis of environmental, social, and economic conditions in Shandaken.
