Use caution on Rt. 214 – One lane closed for repair. Why is the State of Emergency still in effect?

Although most of the Town has returned to normal, the Town is awaiting NYSDOT’s evaluation and stabilization plan for the damaged section of State Route 214. Until we know the condition of the roadway and any remaining public safety concerns, it is prudent to keep the Local State of Emergency in place.

The declaration applies only because of this unresolved safety issue. No other areas of the Town of Shandaken are currently impacted.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and will provide an update as soon as NYSDOT completes its assessment.
